COLORS

Where does the color come from?

Crystals are formed by a very slow and controlled heat reduction process. Chemicals used during the process, as opposed to dies, dictate the color. Different chemicals absorb different wavelengths of visible light. The result is that we see the opposite of this color. For example, if the chemical added absorbed blue, we would see an orange crystal. Interestingly enough, manufacturing a clear crystal is much more difficult than adding color. There can be no impurities during the manufacturing process as even a small contamination could change the clarity of the crystal.

Please note: Color charts are for informational purposes only and may differ from the actual crystals. Colors on your screen are affected by monitor settings and different web browsers. Slight changes in shades are unavoidable.

STYLE

We sell Swarovski Flat Back Style 2028

This is a 14 faceted crystal with alternating size width cuts on the sides - see diagram.

These crystals are absolutely beautiful. If you need crystals that must look wonderful and perfect close-up, then this is the crystal you want. These are great for evening gowns, purses, cell phones, costumes, etc that will be seen at close range.

We do not carry Style 2012 which is the 12 facet cut.

PRECIOSA

Preciosa is the top of the line Czech crystal that is completely machine cut with 8 facets – see diagram below. Many of the Czech rhinestones are acrylic or glass and are molded. We sell only the best Czech crystals.

If you want sparkle from a distance, you probably want the Preciosa crystal. Many people prefer the Czech Preciosa for costumes that will be seen from a stage, gym or field. Because it has 8 facets, instead of the 14, the facets are wider and reflect more light.
